Power System Expert for transmission network

Service description:

We are seeking an Power System Expert Service to strengthen advanced analytical and modelling activities within a transmission network environment.

The assignment focuses on delivering expert-level technical support in a time‑critical context, while contributing to the robustness and continuity of ongoing analytical and transformation initiatives.

The consultant is expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy and to provide targeted knowledge transfer to internal teams.

Scope of Services

The external consultant will be responsible for delivering the following services:

  • Execution of advanced power network analyses, including:
    • Load flow and steady-state studies
    • Voltage and dynamic stability analyses
    • Network modelling and validation of input data
  • Contribution to analytical and operational activities using power system simulation tools
  • Development and maintenance of analytical workflows, including:
    • Automation and scripting of simulation tasks
    • Development of supporting tools for analysis, testing and reporting
  • Provision of expert technical support and coaching to internal engineers and analysts
  • Collaboration with other stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of high-quality technical outputs

Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in power engineering roles
  • Proven experience within a Transmission System Operator (TSO) or comparable organization (mandatory requirement)
  • Demonstrated expertise in transmission network studies
  • Advanced and hands-on knowledge of power system simulation software PowerFactory (from DigSILENT)
  • Strong programming and automation skills, in particular:
  • Python
  • Scripting and automation within simulation environments
  • Ability to work independently in complex and high‑criticality environments
  • Strong analytical skills and solution-oriented mindset
  • Additional language skills are considered a plus
  • Educational Background
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification
  • Specialization in Power System / Transmission Networks
  • Good level of Dutch and/or French and English is required.

Additional information:

  • Onsite presence: By default, a physical presence on site is required for 2 days per week.
  • The remote work policy is applicable to the delivery of the service.
