Head of Engineering Department

As Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of engineering projects relating to structural, piping, mechanical, and electrics/instrumentation/controls (EIC) in heat treatment furnace domain.

You will lead a team of skilled engineers and designers, providing guidance, mentoring and support to ensure projects are completed efficiently and effectively.

YOU ACT

You will be responsible for the disciplinary and technical management of the staff within the department; other duties will include:

  • Provide advice and guidance to the engineering team, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Implement an efficient engineering time forecasting and tracking system, as well as a detailed drawing and document requirement definition system.
  • Monitor and manage engineering project budgets, schedule, and resources from inception to completion to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Implement and deploy the new engineering software, (Creo and Aveva) within the engineering department, in line with the Group's strategies.
  • Coordinate with external engineering firms and decide on outsourcing of engineering activities based on internal capacity utilization and/or overall Group decision.
  • Drive innovation and implement continuous improvement and products modularization/standardization/design to cost within the engineering department, taking into account the interfaces with other departments.
  • Maintain constant communication and coordination with the Flat Products (FR) functional heads and all other internal departments’ managers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Development, Manufacturing, and Quality assurance to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and electrical components.
  • Establish and maintain engineering standards, processes, and best practices to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Give support sales, project management, erection, commissioning and service issues in close coordination with the internal department managers.
  • Provide sales support during preparation of quotations.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and excellence within the engineering team.

Exigences

YOU KNOW

You have completed a Master's degree in Civil or Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field; you should also have:

  • 10 years of experience of managing cross-functional teams in an engineering environment.
  • Strong technical expertise in mechanical design and/or in functional electrical systems.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading engineering teams and delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, very good knowledge of English, additional knowledge of French would be an advantage
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, assertiveness, resilience, decision-making ability.
  • Strong problem solving skills and results oriented.
  • Experience of SAP, CAD software (Creo, Inventor, Auto CAD), MS Office, MS Teams, Aveva).
  • Willingness to travel worldwide
